Explore the heart of the Rocky Mountains with a trip through Banff and Jasper National Parks! This 3 day tour through the Canadian Rockies will take you on one of the most scenic highways in the world – the Icefields Parkway! You’ll discover amazing glacial lakes, snow-capped mountain peaks, pristine rivers, waterfalls, and wildlife everywhere you look. Departing Banff, the tour will head up to Lake Louise with half a day to hike and explore this iconic area. After visits to the Athabasca Glacier and Falls, we’ll spend a night in a rustic wilderness lodge in the forests just outside of the Jasper town centre.

3 days | Departing Banff


  • Visit the iconic Lake Louise with an afternoon to explore the area
  • Wildlife viewing and amazing vistas along the Icefields Parkway

  • Explore the biggest icefield south of the Arctic Circle at the Columbia Icefield

We start today exploring Banff’s surrounding lakes - Minniwanka, Johnson, and Two Jack Lake. Soak up the awe inspiring Banff and Yoho National Parks, with visits to Johnston Canyon, Emerald Lake, Natural Bridges, Moraine Lake (seasonal), and Lake Louise. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife! Enjoy a real Canadian campfire tonight, and look for the Milky Way.

  • Reservations for tonight’s accommodation are made at the HI Lake Louise
  • Take in the jagged mountain peaks, raging rivers and explore the Icefields Parkway, named one of the most scenic drives in the world by National Geographic. Today we see the Columbia Icefields, Maligne Canyon and Athabasca Falls. Look out for wildlife as we explore the back roads around Jasper before heading back to the rustic Athabasca Falls hostel. It’s another great night by the campfire in a remote location with a star-filled sky, if you're lucky you may be able to see the Northern Lights!

  • Reservations for tonight’s accommodation are made at the HI Athabasca Falls
  • There’s no wifi in the forest but we promise you’ll make great connections

    It’s another day of jaw dropping vistas and scenic hikes as we make our way along the Icefields Parkway. Stops today include Tangle Falls, Mistaya Canyon and Peyto Lake. The tour returns to Banff, where you get a chance to explore the great nightlife, or relax at the Banff hot springs. Dinner included at Samesun Banff

  • Reservations for tonight’s accommodation, and the next day, are made at the Samesun Banff. These two nights of accommodation are not included in the 6 night Tomahawk accommodation package. If you would like to take these reservations you will need to pay at the hostels daily rate on arrival.

    *Moose books your accommodation for each night of the tour so all you need to worry about is having fun! We always choose top rated hostels with high quality accommodation and a fun atmosphere. Moose reserves a single bed per passenger in shared hostel dorm rooms. You simply pay for your bed when you arrive at the hostel or you can purchase the optional Accommodation Package.

    You must make your own reservation if a) you would like to upgrade to a private room, b) you choose to stay in a different hostel/hotel, and always c) for the final night of the tour in Banff.

    *In 2018, you will have a reservation made at the Samesun Banff for the night your tour ends, and the night after. If you would like to take these reservations you will need to pay the hostel on arrival. These 2 nights are not included in the Athabasca accommodation package .

    *In 2019, you will need to make your own reservation for the night your tour ends. If you would to stay in the same place, Moose passengers that are continuing on the tour will be staying at the Samesun Banff.

    1. Bring proper clothing for the tour. The weather in Canada is predictable, but changes in temperature can occur throughout the day depending on location (this is especially true in the mountains or during the spring and fall months elsewhere). Find out what else to bring on our FAQ page.
    2. If possible bring a credit card with you while traveling. Credit cards can be used as identification and for making deposits on rentals if needed.
    3. Don't forget your camera - we will guarantee that you will want to take photos of new friends, beautiful scenery and wild animals!
    4. Book your pre-departure accommodation in advance. Moose tours pick up at major hostels in Vancouver. Not sure where to stay? Contact our office for recommendations.
