Heading West? The 2 day Chinook Pass travels one-way from Banff to Vancouver through the diverse and stunning landscapes of British Columbia. Explore Western Canada from the tall peaks of the Canadian Rockies, through the vast desert lowlands in the Okanagan, and finish by the lush coastal rainforests in Vancouver. We stop at scenic viewpoints en route, and for activities such as hiking and swimming.

  • Tour through Yoho National Park
  • See majestic waterfalls and turquoise lakes including 381m Takakkaw Falls (seasonal) and Emerald Lake
  • Travel through Canada's desert region and party on Lake Okanagan

We’ll leave the Rockies today, but not before stopping at the towering Takakkaw Falls (seasonal), the pristine Emerald Lake and the Natural Bridge. We’ll also make a fun stop at the quirky Log Barn after reaching the Okanagan Valley. This area is known for sandy beaches on crystal clear lakes, and lots of fun in the sun. Relax at the lake, or rock out in Kelowna tonight - it’s a university city with plenty of bars and nightclubs!

Today we cross the beautiful Okanagan Lake and climb over high mountain passes as we make our way to the west coast. We’ll explore the Othello Tunnels, before entering the Fraser Valley, and making a stop for lunch in the town of Hope. Then it’s onto Vancouver and time to say goodbye to your new friends.

We know that a good night’s sleep is important, especially after a busy day of travelling with lots of fun activities. We choose hostels and backpacker properties that offer budget value, as well as great facilities, and a welcoming atmosphere.

As part of our included service, we pre-book your accommodation so all you need to worry about is having fun! We reserve single beds in mixed gender hostel dorm rooms for every passenger, on every night of the tour. By staying in shared rooms you get a chance to meet more people, hang out with other Moose travellers, and pay less than you would booking a private room or hotel.

How To Pay For Your Accommodation

You simply pay for your pre-reserved Moose bed when you arrive at the hostel. Dorm bed prices range from CAD$29 to $75 plus tax. Alternatively, you can purchase our optional Pre-Paid Accommodation Package.

Pre-Paid Accommodation Package

To make life on your Moose tour as simple as possible, we recommend purchasing our Pre-Paid Accommodation Package. The package covers your accommodation costs for the standard nights of the trip, in mixed gender dorm beds, so you’re already paid up when you check in. This means you’ll be in your room faster, and therefore have more time to enjoy your epic adventure! Important Note: do not purchase the Accommodation Package if you wish to stay in private rooms or alternative accommodation on any night (or multiple nights) of the tour. We do not offer an accommodation upgrade service, nor we do we offer partial refunds of any unused dorm bed nights.

Do I Ever Need To Book My Own Accommodation?

If you’ve booked our Pre-Paid Accommodation Package, you ONLY need to make your own reservation:

  • for your pre tour nights in Banff, and
  • for your post tour nights in Vancouver

If you haven’t booked our Pre-Paid Accommodation Package, you ONLY need to make your own reservation:

  • for your pre tour nights in Banff,
  • for your post tour nights in Vancouver,
  • if you would like to upgrade to a private room, and/or
  • if you choose to stay in a different hostel/hotel
Please advise us if you book your own accommodation on any standard night of the tour, so that we can cancel the pre-reserved bed we are holding for you.
Send us an email (include your Moose Confirmation Number):

  1. Bring proper clothing for the tour. The weather in Canada can be unpredictable, and changes in temperature can occur throughout the day depending on location (this is especially true in the mountains or during the spring and fall months elsewhere). Find out what else to bring on our FAQ page.
  2. If possible bring a credit card with you while traveling. Credit cards can be used as identification and for making deposits on rentals if needed.
  3. Don't forget your camera - we will guarantee that you will want to take photos of new friends, beautiful scenery and wild animals!
  4. Book your pre and post departure accommodation in advance. Moose tours pick up and drop off at major hostels in Vancouver and Banff. Not sure where to stay? Contact our office for recommendations.
  5. Join our Facebook travel community and hook up with you future bus mates. If you have any questions we can surely answer them there. Possibly peruse some of the pics of passengers past!
  6. If you have any other questions please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page or contact our office.
